JOB DESCRIPTION & OVERVIEW
The farmers' markets are the highlight of our week and we're excited to expand our team!
We are seeking a Farmers Market Host/Brand Ambassador to help promote and sell ice cream pints at farmers markets in New Jersey and Pennsylvania (within 50 miles of Philadelphia). As part of this job, you will engage with both loyal and potential customers. We’re looking for dependable, trustworthy, hard-working individuals with an enthusiastic personality to interact with customers and help sell ice cream at our all-weather markets.
For this job, you will arrive at our kitchen in South Philly (1304 South 9th Street) early each Saturday and/or Sunday morning to load ice cream-filled coolers and market gear into your car. You will then travel to your assigned market, set up, and sell ice cream for the duration of the market (between 3-5 hours, depending on the market). When the market ends, you'll pack up and return everything to the kitchen. A full market day from start to finish is around 6 to 8 hours. You may be vending independently or paired with another one of our market employees, depending on the size of the market. Our schedule for this season includes Rittenhouse, Collingswood (NJ), Chestnut Hill, and Media.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Transporting coolers full of pre-packaged ice cream, tent, table, and display items
Set up and breakdown of above items
Engaging and educating shoppers about our ice cream
Active selling of ice cream and answering questions about our products
Ability to work independently using sound decision making and problem-solving skills
Handling both cash and electronic transactions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a vehicle (SUV-size vehicle preferred)
Must be punctual and arrive on time to our kitchen and to markets.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
Ability to stand for long periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions
Weekend availability
Sales experience preferred, but not required. On-the-job training provided.
